Liverpool have opened talks with Arsenal over a deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sky Sports News understands.
The Gunners had agreed to sell the England international to their London rivals Chelsea for a fee believed to be £35m.
But Sky Sports News understands the 24-year-old has turned down a move to Stamford Bridge because he favours a transfer to Liverpool ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is out of contract at the end of the season and will see out the remaining 11 months of his Arsenal deal should a transfer to Anfield not get over the line for any reason.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is currently on duty with the England squad, has started all of Arsenal's games this season but recently rejected a new contract offer following a meeting with manager Arsene Wenger.
Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn told Sky Sports News on Tuesday he believes it is time for Oxlade-Chamberlain to depart the club after six years.
"Personally, I think he has had enough at Arsenal. It is time to move on and face a new challenge," Winterburn said.
Arsenal look to be one of the busiest clubs ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline, with discussions ongoing over the potential transfer of Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City and the possibility of Shkodran Mustafi also leaving, and Jonny Evans coming in from West Brom.
Serge Aurier's move to Tottenham 'imminent' as work permit agreed
Serge Aurier's £23m move to Tottenham is imminent, according to Sky sources.
The Paris Saint-Germain player has been granted a work permit enabling him to finalise his transfer, after the clubs agreed the fee last week.
Aurier has completed his medical and agreed personal terms with Tottenham.
PSG had set a midday deadline for Aurier to sort out that permit - or he could have been transferred to Barcelona or Juventus, where a permit would not be required.
Aurier was given a two-month suspended jail sentence last year for assaulting a police officer - he has since appealed against that sentence but the outcome is unknown. The 24-year-old was not allowed into the UK to play for PSG in their Champions League clash with Arsenal last season as a result of the jail sentence.
Sky Sports News understands there was interest from Manchester United and Chelsea but Aurier has chosen Tottenham and cited Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy as major factors in his decision.
Aurier has played his entire professional career in France, joining PSG in the summer of 2015 after starting his career with Lens and then moving on to Toulouse.
Grant Hanley joins Norwich on four-year deal from Newcastle
The defender has signed a four-year deal after passing a medical on Wednesday morning.
The 25-year-old leaves Newcastle after just one year on Tyneside, having arrived from Blackburn.
"Being able to come to a massive club and get games is a big motivation for me," he told Norwich City TV.
"It's a club with high aspirations and a fresh start for me. As a defender, I'm a bit of an old-fashioned no-nonsense centre-half and you pride yourself on clean sheets.
"We've got work to do on the training ground to improve that."
Hanley will now re-join the Scotland squad which flies off to Lithuania ahead of the forthcoming World Cup Qualifier on Friday, September 1.
